Who We are
A Community Grounded in God’s Word
Blackburn Presbyterian Church is located at 53 Gardenia Street, Blackburn VIC 3130.
We are a church family committed to knowing Jesus Christ and making Him known through faithful Bible teaching, worship, prayer, and fellowship.
Our Sunday worship services are held at 11:00am, with prayer and fellowship gatherings continuing throughout the week.

Our Beliefs
God created everything good, making people in His image, who rejected and rebelled against His loving rule. The consequences of our rebellion against God resulted in serious damage to the world, and everything in it.
Even worse, rejecting God (sin) has eternal consequences (hell).
But, out of His great love and mercy, God sent Jesus to live the life we should have lived, die in our place for our sin, and come back to life to save us.
Now, as we wait for Jesus to return, we get to experience forgiveness, peace, joy and life to the full.
This is the gospel and this is what God calls us to believe and live by.

We believe in the authority, sufficiency and necessity of God’s revealed Word, the Bible, for all of life. We earnestly strive to follow Christ and His apostles.
We believe that salvation comes by God drawing people to the Lord Jesus Christ by his Holy Spirit. He convinces them of their sin and enlightens them so that they repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as He is offered in the Gospel.
We believe in the Trinity of the Godhead. There is one God who exists eternally in three Persons–the Father who saves people by drawing them to his Son through the Holy Spirit. These three are one in power and glory.
We believe in the full divinity and the full humanity of Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God. He is the fullest and final revelation of God to mankind.
We believe that Jesus Christ, as the eternal Son of God, became man, lived, died and rose again to atone for the sins of those who trust Him alone for their salvation. Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and mankind.
We believe that the Bible is the written Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is our infallible and divine authority in all matters of faith and life.
We believe that God’s Holy Spirit gives Christians, as they rely on Him, the daily strength and wisdom they need to walk according to His will and to grow in holiness.
We believe that all people are sinners and are unable to save themselves or even co-operate with God in efforts to earn their salvation.
We believe that Jesus Christ shall return personally, visibly and bodily to judge all mankind and to receive His people unto Himself.
Our History
The history of Blackburn Presbyterian Church stretches back to the 1880s, when Presbyterian believers gathered in homes and local halls throughout Blackburn.
1880s
Home fellowship gatherings begin in Blackburn.
1926
The first Presbyterian church building was established in Blackburn.
1960
A new church building was erected on The Avenue.
1980s
The congregation returned to Gardenia Street after purchasing the current site.
Today
Blackburn Presbyterian Church continues to gather to worship Christ and proclaim the Gospel in Blackburn.
